Barnsley and District Animal Welfare (BADAW) was formed early in 2008 and achieved registered charity status in February 2009. Our charity registration number is 1128029.

We rescue abandoned and unwanted dogs with the aim of finding them new, forever homes. Unless already seen by a vet, stray dogs normally receive a veterinary health check at Churchfield Veterinary Centre in Barnsley. They are treated against fleas & worms, are microchipped, vaccinated against common diseases and are neutered or come with a neutering voucher for use at our vets.

We never put an animal to sleep unless it is on veterinary advice. We are based in South Yorkshire but cover all parts of the country.  If you can’t see just what you are looking for then please keep checking our website as we never know what we will be getting in next. We do carry out checks before re-homing any animal. All our volunteers work free of charge and all donations go towards the care and treatment of our dogs.

BADAW is proud to be a charity partner with Pets at Home. Donate

Members of BADAW give up their time free of charge so we can make full use of funds raised to help rescued animals. There are a number of ways you can help us by making a donation. The easiest is by Paypal. Simply click the Donate button below.

Other ways to donate include setting up a monthly standing order, using the Payroll Giving to Charity system if you are working or by using the Government’s Gift Aid scheme. For more information on these please see our donate page.

Temporary fosterers wanted

If you live in South Yorkshire or West Yorkshire and are willing to offer a temporary foster home for a dog, please get in touch with us by email or by phoning us on 01226 388764. We often use temporary fosterers to look after dogs that are unwell, recovering from operations or in need of a break from kennels. All food etc. will be provided
